Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Luiz Duarte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jimmy Joe struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 137.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duarte throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Joe's head.
Duarte fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Joe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Joe lands in his opponent's guard.
Duarte is trying to keep Joe in close.

Joe gets to his feet. Duarte looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Joe counters with a single leg into guard. Duarte didn't expect that.
Duarte is trying to keep Joe in close.
Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Duarte is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joe seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Duarte doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Joe stands and steps away. Duarte gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Joe moves into the clinch.

Joe tries to roll over but Duarte keeps him under control.

Duarte wants to lay and pray for a moment but Joe keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Joe gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Duarte sizes up Joe with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Joe has taken the fight to the clinch.
Duarte tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Joe smiles and moves away.

Joe circles away from the clinch attempt

and Joe counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Duarte!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Joe dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Joe moves into the clinch successfully.

Duarte pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Duarte shoots and misses

and Joe counters with a shoot takedown. Duarte fights it but they end up in guard.

Joe stands up and beckons Duarte to join him on the feet.
Duarte tries for a takedown but Joe circles away easily
and Joe counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Duarte ducks under a wild hook from Joe.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Duarte looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Joe has his takedown stuffed

and Duarte counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Duarte throws a big right hand that misses.
Joe is trying to keep Duarte in close.
Duarte trying to control the position from guard on top but Joe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Duarte is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Joe is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Joe has control of Duarte's left arm, preventing Duarte from doing any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Joe trying to control the position.
Joe wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Duarte manages to pass to side control.
Jimmy Joe has got the better of the ground game so far.
Joe is trying to maintain the position but Duarte is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Duarte lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Joe wants to clinch

and Duarte holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Duarte wants to break free but Joe has control.

Duarte breaks from the clinch.

Joe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Joe decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Duarte clinches but Joe breaks the clinch

and Joe counters with a takedown into side control.
Joe misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Duarte is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Joe working away.
Joe wants to control but Duarte is keeping him busy.
Joe has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Joe stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Duarte tries to close the distance and clinch up but Joe swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Joe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Duarte tries to kick Joe off but Joe keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Duarte wants to control but Joe is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Well, if Joe is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Joe is nestled in close to Duarte, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Duarte trying to hold on to Joe's head to control him but Joe postures up.

Joe seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Duarte is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
