PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Ferrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Hust (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferrell scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Hust is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ferrell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hust grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Ferrell really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Hust.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ferrell is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Ferrell gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Ferrell gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Ferrell apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Hust really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ferrell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ferrell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hust can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hust is trying to stand up here but Ferrell is controlling him well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hust smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Ferrell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hust paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hust throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ferrell tries to close the distance and clinch but Hust swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hust stalks Ferrell and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ferrell's face. Ferrell staggers backwards, shaken.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hust.
Ferrell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hust swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hust lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Mark Ferrell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A head kick misses from Hust.
Ferrell misses with a few strikes there.
Hust wants to clinch but Ferrell slips to the side

so Ferrell counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mark Ferrell will probably get the nod.

Hust throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ferrell stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Hust closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hust lands in his opponent's guard.
Hust wants to control from the top but Ferrell keeps moving.
Hust controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hust stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ferrell swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hust wants to get up but he can't break Ferrell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Ferrell has his feet on Hust's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Hust lands with a shot to the body.
Hust bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ferrell's head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ferrell looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hust is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ferrell asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Hust takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Ferrell is working to tighten is grip on Hust's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hust has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ferrell is really squeezing tight and eventually Hust passes out! Ferrell breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
