The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luis Leonardo throws a series of punches but Mendes avoids them all with ease.
Mendes blocks a head kick by Luis Leonardo.
Mendes dives in and grabs Luis Leonardo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Luis Leonardo pushes down on Mendes's head and hops out.
Luis Leonardo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mendes manages to avoid it.
Luis Leonardo scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Luis Leonardo scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Luis Leonardo misses with a kick to the body.

Luis Leonardo gets caught flat footed, as Mendes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mendes pushes down on Luis Leonardo's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Luis Leonardo wants to improve his position but Mendes is controlling well.
Mendes throws a strike but Luis Leonardo avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Mendes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mendes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Luis Leonardo just misses with a punch to the body.

Mendes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Luis Leonardo is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mendes has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Mendes has an Americana. Luis Leonardo didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Mendes is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Mendes hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
