Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dan Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Yuen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sean Yuen is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sean Yuen!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Yuen scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Yuen lands a nice forearm strike.
Yuen controls the position from side control.
Evans is trying to work for a sweep but Yuen has mounted him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
BOOM! Yuen connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Yuen controlling from the full mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yuen tries to control but Evans wriggling away.
Yuen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Yuen working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Evans is breathing heavily.
Evans is squirming around, avoiding Yuen's attempts to control the action.
Yuen cracks Evans with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Yuen looking to control and managing it successfully.
Yuen dominating with strikes here.
Yuen content just to control the position here.

Despite being in the dominant position, Sean Yuen just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Evans looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Yuen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Evans looking for submissions off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Yuen decides to return to a standing position.

Yuen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Evans looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Yuen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Yuen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Evans has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yuen has managed to get both his arms back between Evans's legs - danger averted.
Yuen trying to control the position from guard on top but Evans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Evans working for a triangle but Yuen defends it easily.
Evans preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Yuen wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving.

Evans is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Yuen defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Yuen dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Evans wants to clinch.
Yuen throws the kick towards the body but Evans avoids it.
No luck for Yuen with that takedown attempt.
Evans tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yuen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Yuen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Evans won't be happy with that.
Evans looking for a sweep but Yuen has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yuen wants to control the pace but Evans is squirming around nicely.
Yuen lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Evans wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Evans turns into Yuen and is now in his guard.
Yuen is adopting a defensive guard.

Evans drops back, looking for a kneebar! Yuen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Yuen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Yuen!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Evans manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Yuen is trying to control but Evans passes into side control!

Evans wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yuen, who protects the arm well.

Evans is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yuen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yuen manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Evans looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Yuen wants to control but Evans is keeping him busy.

Evans actively working from the bottom here.
Evans wants to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Evans is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Yuen pulls his head out easily.

Evans looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Yuen pushes past his half guard into mount!
The referee warns Evans that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Yuen looking to control but Evans is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Evans is working to get back to half guard.
Yuen manages to capitalize on a mistake by Evans to take his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Yuen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Yuen wants to clinch.

Evans gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Evans is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Evans has his foot on Yuen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yuen works his way back into a safe position though.

Evans looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Yuen stands up and waves to Evans to follow him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Yuen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Evans, pushing him back against the cage.
Evans has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Yuen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Evans trying to control the position but instead, Yuen has worked for underhooks and has pushed Evans into the cage.
Evans seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Yuen is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Evans escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Yuen darts in and clinches Evans up against the cage.

Evans has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Yuen uses from the top position.

Yuen is sitting in close to Evans's body. Evans has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Yuen is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Yuen is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Evans.
