PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Garry Dupuis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Payton Strader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dupuis comes to the cage accompanied by Champion by Kanye West. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Garry Dupuis!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Payton Strader!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dupuis slips under a jab.
Dupuis fails to land the takedown.
Strader tries to clinch but Dupuis moves out of range.
Strader moves in looking to clinch but Dupuis pushes him off.
Dupuis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Strader doesn't manage to clinch there - Dupuis circles away.
A slow jab from Strader misses its intended target.
Strader keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Garry Dupuis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Strader fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dupuis tries to close the distance and clinch but Strader swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dupuis bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dupuis ducks under a wild hook from Strader.

Dupuis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Strader's half guard.
Dupuis passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Strader!
Dupuis breaks from Strader's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Strader wants to control but Dupuis is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dupuis is going olschool here, as he tries to force Strader to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Strader shrugs it off.
Strader tries to hold on but Dupuis pushes him away.
Dupuis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Strader can do anything to dispel that myth.
Strader really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dupuis trying to control but Strader is having none of it.
Strader throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Strader is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Dupuis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dupuis connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Dupuis is landing with some decent strikes but Strader is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Strader is desperately trying to improve his position but Dupuis has a good base and remains in mount.
Dupuis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Strader looks gassed!

Dupuis has isolated one of Strader's arms. Strader looking to fight him off but Dupuis twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
