Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pepito Manaloto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Yap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pepito Manaloto could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jay Yap's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pepito Manaloto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jay Yap!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manaloto tries to clinch up but Yap circles away and keeps his distance.
Manaloto dives in and grabs Yap's left leg, looking for a takedown. Yap pushes down on Manaloto's head and hops out.
Yap swats away the attempt to clinch by Manaloto.
Yap tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Manaloto paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jay Yap seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Manaloto tries to clinch up but Yap circles away and keeps his distance.
Yap lands a jab-cross combination.
Manaloto just misses with a punch to the body.
Yap shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Manaloto sprawls well. Manaloto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Yap gets slowly back to his feet.
Yap throws a front kick aimed at Manaloto's knee but Manaloto avoids it well.
Yap lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Manaloto shoots in for a double leg but Yap sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Yap throws a one two combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yap tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Yap shoots in looking for a takedown. Manaloto tries to sprawl out of it but Yap keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Manaloto manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Manaloto tries to clinch up but Yap circles away and keeps his distance.

Manaloto fails in his attempt to clinch.
Left hook, right uppercut from Yap.
Yap throws a series of punches but Manaloto avoids them all with ease.
Manaloto fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pepito Manaloto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Yap counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Yap must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Yap landing some decent shots from guard.

Yap has gone for a leg lock! Manaloto slips out almost immediately though and dives into Yap's guard.
Yap wants to stand up but Manaloto is controlling him.
Yap looks gassed!

Yap pulls Manaloto in to control the position.
Manaloto looking to sit in guard and control but Yap gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yap won't allow Manaloto to get back to his feet.
Yap is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Yap loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Yap throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Manaloto works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Manaloto wants to stand up but Yap is controlling him.

Yap decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Yap closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Manaloto to the mat! Manaloto manages to get full guard.
Yap postures up.
Yap distracts Manaloto with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Yap sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Manaloto's guard.
Yap tries to pass the half guard into mount. Manaloto knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Yap works his way into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Yap dominated that round.
That's time! Manaloto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Yap shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Yap is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Manaloto defends it well.
Manaloto taking some punishment here, with Yap in his half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Manaloto on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Yap is pressing down on Manaloto's thigh, looking to free his foot. Manaloto is holding on for now.
Yap winds up and cracks Manaloto with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Yap is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yap stands up and beckons Manaloto to join him on the feet.

Manaloto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Yap sprawls well initially but Manaloto persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yap can do anything to dispel that myth.

Manaloto trying to control the action but Yap is working from the bottom.
Yap wants to get back to full guard.
Yap is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Manaloto tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Yap.

Yap wants to improve his position but Manaloto is controlling well.
Manaloto trying to mount his opponent but Yap defends it.
Manaloto wants to take a breather but Yap is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Yap pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Yap fails to land the takedown.
Yap throws a low kick but Manaloto avoids it.
Yap connects with a jab.

Yap closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Manaloto did well to prevent Yap getting side control.
Manaloto has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yap is working away from the top position though.
Yap is looking to pass Manaloto's guard but actually Manaloto recovers to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Yap showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Manaloto shoots for a takedown but Yap saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Yap tries to close the distance and clinch but Manaloto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Manaloto looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Manaloto throws an overhand right that lands on Yap's shoulder, as Yap tries to avoid the shot.
Yap fails in his attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Manaloto shoots in for a takedown but Yap shows good takedown defense.
Yap scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Yap fails with the takedown.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Yap throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Pepito Manaloto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Yap swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Yap takes the fight into the clinch.
Manaloto is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Yap tries to break the clinch but Manaloto is controlling the position.
Yap wants to get back to striking at distance but Manaloto won't allow it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Yap wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Manaloto has him pressed against the cage.
Yap changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Manaloto fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Yap tries to score a power double leg takedown but Manaloto sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Yap somewhat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Manaloto looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Manaloto checks the leg kick nicely there.
Yap fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Manaloto wants to clinch.
Manaloto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yap swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jay Yap seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Yap clinches up against the cage.
Yap tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Manaloto smiles and moves away.
Yap throws a half hearted mid kick.
Manaloto keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Manaloto is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Manaloto shoots for a double leg takedown but Yap sprawls well. He's pushed Manaloto's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Manaloto is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Yap.
Yap with a poor takedown

and Manaloto counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Yap's guard now.
Manaloto trying to control but Yap is working from the bottom.
Yap wants to sweep here but Manaloto controlling him for the moment.
Yap keeping moving, preventing Manaloto from controlling successfully.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pepito Manaloto.
Well Yap has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
