Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Israel Gordon!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Leo Lindgren!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gordon stops Lindgren from getting back to his feet.
Lindgren kicks off Gordon and gets to his feet.
Gordon scores with a takedown into Lindgren's guard.
Gordon advances to half guard.
Lindgren tries to kick Gordon off but Gordon keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Lindgren has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gordon is working away from the top position though.
Gordon is trying to control the action in half guard but Lindgren is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gordon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lindgren is holding on to half guard well.
Lindgren is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Gordon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lindgren tries to avoid it but Gordon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lindgren to the ground. Lindgren escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gordon looks for a takedown but Lindgren sprawls well.
Lindgren scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Lindgren has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Gordon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lindgren counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Israel Gordon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lindgren moves in looking to clinch but Gordon pushes him off.
Gordon doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lindgren counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gordon is breathing heavily.
Lindgren decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lindgren shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gordon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lindgren decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gordon, up you get!

A punch combination from Lindgren misses.
Gordon misses with a takedown attempt
and Lindgren counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gordon is looking for a triangle but Lindgren pushes his legs off easily.
Lindgren with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Gordon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lindgren doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lindgren manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lindgren slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Lindgren trying to control the position from guard on top but Gordon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Lindgren is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Gordon has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Lindgren doesn't defend quickly enough and Gordon has managed to lock this one up! Can Lindgren escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Gordon on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Israel Gordon!
