The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pate slips a jab from Galupad.
A swing and a miss from Galupad.
Galupad smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

It looks like Jake Pate has been cut.
Pate throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Galupad throws out a loose jab but Pate uses good head movement to avoid it.
Pate throws a looping overhand right but Galupad ducks down to avoid it.
Pate throws a leg kick but Galupad checks it.

Galupad lands a left and a right that send Pate crashing to the mat, dazed. Galupad thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Galupad gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pate to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Pate is looking to advance position but Galupad has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Galupad controlling the position well here. Pate rolled but Galupad kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Pate manages to reverse the position and now he's in Galupad's guard. Nice work there by Pate.
Pate stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Galupad swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pate has gone for a leg lock! Galupad slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pate's guard.

Galupad got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pate has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Galupad has managed to get both his arms back between Pate's legs - danger averted.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Galupad has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pate is proving hard to escape from.

Pate postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pate drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Galupad manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pate has Galupad in his guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pate throwing short punches from the bottom.

Pate has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Galupad has passed into side control.

Pate gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pate shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pate showed some decent athleticism there.
Pate is nestled in close to Galupad, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Pate works his foot free and advances to mount.
Galupad is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Pate has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Galupad has left one of his arms exposed and Pate doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Galupad screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
