PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Terry Etim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Allton!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Allton.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Etim.

Etim has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Allton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Allton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Etim was covering up waiting for the punch and Allton finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Etim wants to stand but Allton is controlling the position.

Etim pushes Allton off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Allton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Etim fails with an attempt to clinch.
Allton tries to clinch there but Etim circles away.

Allton takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Etim shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Allton's guard.

Allton has his feet on Etim's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Allton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Etim is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Allton asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Allton throws a strike aimed at the side of Etim's head but Etim avoids it well.

Allton decides to stand back up.
Etim scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Allton doesn't seem bothered though.

Allton shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Etim tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Allton holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Etim breaks from the clinch.
Etim fails with an attempt to clinch.
Etim thumps Allton with a low kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Etim feints and then cracks Allton's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Allton down.
Etim lands with a slapping head kick.
Allton circles away from the clinch attempt

and Allton counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Etim's guard now.

Allton won't allow Etim to get back to his feet.
Etim trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Etim pushes Allton off and gets back to his feet.
Allton moves in looking to clinch but Etim pushes him off.
Etim tries for a takedown but Allton circles away easily

and Allton counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Etim's guard now.

Etim wants to stand up but Allton is controlling him.

Let's hope that Allton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Etim is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Allton is controlling him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Etim tries to clinch but Allton moves away

and Allton counters by clinching up.
Allton tries to pull guard but Etim holds him up against the cage and eventually Allton drops back down to his feet.
Etim prevents the takedown attempt.

Etim breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Etim looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Allton moves into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Terry Etim has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Allton.

Etim wants to break the clinch but can't.
Allton tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Allton.
Allton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Etim smiles and moves away.
Allton is looking to clinch but Etim is avoiding it.

Etim feints and as Allton raises his hands in defense, Etim changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Etim wants to stand and escape but instead Allton has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Allton won't allow Etim to get back to his feet.
Allton slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Etim wants to get back to his feet but Allton passes into half guard.
Allton prevents Etim from standing back up.

Allton lands strikes from half guard.

Allton stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Etim to get to his feet.

and Allton counters by clinching up.
Etim is pressed up against the cage. Allton has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Etim down to the mat. Etim avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Allton doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Etim counters with a nice double leg into side control. Allton won't be happy with that.
Etim wants to stand but Allton has his arm trapped.
You can see the frustration on Allton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Etim decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Allton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Etim swivels and escapes.
A slapping leg kick lands for Etim.

Allton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Etim to the mat! Etim manages to get full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Etim wants to stand and escape but Allton is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Terry Etim will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Allton fails to land with a series of punches.

Etim rushes Allton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Allton will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Etim up against the cage.

Etim pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Allton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Etim lands with a nice combination. Allton backs away looking to recover.

Allton scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Etim is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
