Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bubba Tep (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tep comes to the cage accompanied by You're the Best Around. Martin has chosen Song of Ice and Fire Art Collection as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bubba Tep!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Martin!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Tep lands a head shot.
Tep throws a right and a left that Martin avoids nicely.
Tep misses with a series of wild punches.
Martin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tep as he avoids it easily.
Tep throws a jab when Martin was well out of range.
Martin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tep throws out the jab.
Martin slips under a jab from Tep.
A telegraphed right hand from Tep misses the target.
Some wild striking there from Tep.
Tep misses with a hook to the body
and Martin counters with a straight right hand.
Tep throws a looping overhand right but Martin ducks down to avoid it.
Martin connects with a jab.
Tep throws a body punch but Martin moves out of range.

Tep lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

A swing and a miss from Tep.
Tep throws a head kick that misses.
Martin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Tep throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tep throws a hook to the side of Martin's head but Martin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Tep misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Martin.
Tep tries to bum rush Martin with a series of wild strikes but Martin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tep misses the jab.
Tep throws a shot from downtown. Martin moves away and avoids it.
No joy there for Tep, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tep swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Martin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tep won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tep tries to bench press Martin off him but Martin keeps the position.

Martin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Tep stops Martin from passing to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Martin scores with punches from side control.
Martin cracks Tep with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Martin trying to control the position but Tep is working away.
Tep tries to bench press Martin off him but Martin keeps the position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Martin swings around for an armbar but Tep sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Martin's guard.

Tep tries to stand but Martin is controlling from the bottom.

Tep stopping the sweep attempt from Martin.
Martin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Martin throws out a powerful jab.
Tep misses with a head kick.
Tep throws a jab when Martin was well out of range.

Martin moves into the clinch.
Tep gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Martin.
Bubba Tep has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Martin.
Tep blocks an uppercut.
Martin tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Tep wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Martin has him pressed against the cage.
Martin lands a nice shot to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Martin lands a right hand that snaps the head of Tep backwards.
Tep takes a shot to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Martin fails to land.
Tep is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Tep looking to stall.
Martin keeps control of Tep as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Martin has a couple of punches blocked by Tep.
Tep tries to break free but Martin pushes him back against the cage.
Tep working hard to break the clinch.
Martin lands a shot to the body.
Tep is breathing heavily.
Martin lands a body punch.
Martin doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Martin presses Tep against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Martin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tep fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Martin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Martin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Tep looks to throw the jab but Martin is out of range.
Tep throws a predictable looking body shot
letting Martin counter with a right hand.

Tep gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Martin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Tep is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Martin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Martin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Martin slips nicely into half guard.
Martin sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Tep defending well though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tep trying to control but Martin postures up.
Tep wants to get back to his feet.
Martin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tep does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Tep bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Martin's head backwards.
Tep ducks right into an uppercut from Martin.
Tep swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Martin counters with a nice body shot.
Bubba Tep seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tep falls off balance throwing a combination

and Martin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tep's guard now.
Martin tries to free his leg and advance position but Tep is retaining full guard.
Martin trying to control but Tep is working from the bottom.

Martin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tep's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tep looking to hit a scissor sweep but Martin is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin stands up over Tep, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Tep not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Martin trying to control the position from guard on top but Tep is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Martin distracts Tep with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Martin trying to control but Tep is working from the bottom.
Tep is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Tep is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Martin is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Martin drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Martin seems to have locked his on tight now - Tep screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Martin, as he picks up the win!
