Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank St Pierre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ciro Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie wants to clinch up but St Pierre keeps it at a distance.
St Pierre moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
St Pierre avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Excellent takedown into side control there by St Pierre.

St Pierre is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gracie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

St Pierre thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

St Pierre is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gracie has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
St Pierre is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Gracie pushes St Pierre away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, St Pierre gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Gracie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with St Pierre. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
St Pierre fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Gracie parries the strikes from St Pierre easily there. St Pierre is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gracie to escape.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
St Pierre working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
St Pierre advances to full mount.
St Pierre cracks Gracie with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Poor strikes thrown by St Pierre there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
St Pierre looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
St Pierre tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
St Pierre's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

St Pierre lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
A nice elbow there by St Pierre.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, St Pierre cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
St Pierre takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

St Pierre jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gracie manages to avoid the submission attempt.

St Pierre is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gracie knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank St Pierre dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Gracie doesn't manage to clinch there - St Pierre circles away.
Gracie fails with an attempt to clinch.

St Pierre shoots in and bounces Gracie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
St Pierre landing some decent shots from guard.
St Pierre sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gracie's guard.

St Pierre is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
St Pierre has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

St Pierre performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
St Pierre is trying to control. Gracie wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
St Pierre controlling the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

St Pierre is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gracie sees it coming and defends easily.
St Pierre content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

St Pierre passes the guard and advances to mount!

St Pierre goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Gracie turns into him and now he's in St Pierre's guard.

St Pierre looking for a triangle here. Gracie is fighting it but it looks tight! St Pierre pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Gracie is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Frank St Pierre!
