The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howard throws a series of strikes that have Baptista backpedaling.

It looks like Luis Baptista has been cut.
Baptista slips a jab and a cross from Howard.
Baptista throws a shot from downtown. Howard moves away and avoids it.
Howard throws a series of punches but Baptista moves out of range.
Baptista avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Baptista. No joy for Howard on that attempt.
Howard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Baptista pinned against the cage. Baptista gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No joy there for Howard, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Baptista throws a head kick that misses.

Howard shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Howard was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Baptista wants to control but Howard is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Howard seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Baptista's chin but Baptista turns very nicely into Howard's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Baptista.
