PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Todd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sanchez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Naughty by Nature - O.P.P.. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Todd Todd!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Todd stuffs the takedown attempt from Sanchez. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet.
Sanchez misses with a two punch combination.
Sanchez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Todd throws a head kick that misses.

Todd throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sanchez was covering up waiting for the punch and Todd finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Todd wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.
Todd postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Todd trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom.

Sanchez is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Todd gets control of Sanchez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Todd will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Sanchez passes Todd's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Sanchez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Sanchez wants to pass to mount but Todd is defending the position.

The fighters are battling for position here. Todd manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Todd seems keen to control Sanchez's posture.
Todd is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Todd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Todd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanchez wants to stand and escape but instead Todd has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Sanchez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Sanchez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Todd is one step ahead there.
Todd wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sanchez wants to stand up but Todd is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sanchez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Todd counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sanchez is breathing heavily.

Todd got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sanchez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Todd has managed to get both his arms back between Sanchez's legs - danger averted.

Todd gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Sanchez tries to keep at a distance but Todd has taken the fight into the clinch.

Todd pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Todd falls off balance throwing a combination

and Sanchez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Todd is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Todd has momentary wrist control but Sanchez slips an elbow through the middle.
Sanchez tries to stand but Todd is controlling from the bottom.
Todd is adopting a defensive guard.

Sanchez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Todd is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Todd has escaped and now he's on top!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Todd wants to get up but he can't break Sanchez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Todd gets the takedown into side control.
Sanchez tries to bench press Todd off him but Todd keeps the position.
Todd taking a break here but Sanchez is having none of it and regains half guard.
Sanchez pushes Todd off looking to stand but Todd dives back in and keeps control.
Sanchez moves into full guard.
Todd with a flurry of punches that miss.

Todd gets to his feet. Sanchez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Todd tries to clinch up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Todd lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sanchez circles away quickly and effectively.

Nice sprawl there from Sanchez as Todd shoots in.

Sanchez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Todd wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Sanchez cracks Todd with a big right hand but Todd just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Sanchez stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Sanchez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sanchez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Todd swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sanchez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Sanchez goes for a takedown attempt but Todd pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Todd drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sanchez gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Todd wants to pass the guard but Sanchez is defending well.
Sanchez trying to hold on to Todd's head to control him but Todd postures up.

Todd is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Sanchez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Todd is looking to stall here but Sanchez recovers full guard.
Todd thows a big elbow that misses.
Sanchez trying to control the position.
Sanchez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Todd is one step ahead there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Todd is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sanchez's half guard.
Todd slips a nice elbow through Sanchez's hands, connecting with Sanchez's forehead.
Sanchez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sanchez.

That was a close second round but I would say that Carlos Sanchez will probably get the nod.
That's time! Sanchez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Todd counters with an outside leg kick.

Todd has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sanchez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Sanchez is working Todd over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Sanchez postures up in Todd's guard and throws a big left but Todd blocks it.

Todd looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Sanchez passes into side control.

Sanchez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but Todd is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Todd closes the distance looking to clinch

and Sanchez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Todd won't be happy with that.

Sanchez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Todd has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sanchez but great work by Todd.

Todd is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Todd is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sanchez pulls his head out easily.

Sanchez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Todd doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sanchez.
Sanchez is nestled in close to Todd, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sanchez thows a huge punch but Todd dodges it nicely.
Sanchez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Sanchez looks to land a strike but Todd avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Todd dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sanchez. That did some damage!
Todd tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Sanchez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Todd to the mat! Todd manages to get full guard.
Sanchez wants to pass the guard but Todd is keeping the position.

Sanchez gets to his feet - Todd follows without any prompting.

And that's the end of the fight!
Carlos Sanchez showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Sanchez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
