Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bubba Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronaldo Couza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronaldo Couza told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Couza is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Smith's half guard.

Couza postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Smith to stand up.

Smith moves into the clinch successfully.

Smith manages to pull guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Bubba Smith has been cut.
Couza is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.

Smith is trying to control the position but Couza postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Couza closes the distance and clinches.

Couza shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Couza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Couza throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Couza controls Smith momentarily but Smith frees himself.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Couza on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bubba Smith's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Smith is bucking up trying to escape but Couza cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Jeez, Bubba Smith's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bubba Smith's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
