The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gonzales.
Gonzales fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Good exchange - Emelianenko coming out on top.

It looks like Nate Gonzales has been cut.

Emelianenko gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Emelianenko wants to stand and escape but Gonzales is having none of it.
Gonzales postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Emelianenko wants to stand up but Gonzales is controlling him.
Emelianenko on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Emelianenko tries to get out of the position.
Gonzales lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Emelianenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Emelianenko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
