Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jokke Nappula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Kurken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jokke Nappula!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Kurken!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nappula throws a body kick that misses.
Nappula misses with an uppercut. Kurken saw that one coming.
Nappula loads up on a big right hand but Kurken slips the punch.
Nappula misses with a wild body shot.

Kurken shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Nappula avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kurken.
Kurken trying to control the action but Nappula is working from the bottom.
Nappula wants to improve his position but Kurken is controlling well.
Ground and pound from Kurken.
Kurken uses his free foot to push down on Nappula's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nappula.
Nappula knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kurken on the ground.
Nappula tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kurken is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Nappula has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kurken looking for a guillotine from mount but Nappula is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kurken avoids the attempt from Nappula to control.
Kurken landing strikes, looking to finish!
Kurken scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Kurken scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Nappula?
Nappula regains half guard.

Kurken is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Nappula has managed to free his arm - good work.

Nappula kicks off Kurken and gets to his feet.
Kurken moves out of range of the strikes.
Nappula throws an overhand right that lands on Kurken's shoulder, as Kurken tries to avoid the shot.
Nappula misses with a head kick.
Nappula swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nappula throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nappula misses with an attempted mid kick.
Nappula throws a leg kick which misses Kurken's front leg but catches the back leg as Kurken tries to avoid it.
Kurken checks a low kick from Nappula.
Nappula scores with a leg kick.
Nappula throws a head kick but Kurken moves out of range.
Kurken looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nappula throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kurken goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nappula lands with an uppercut that bounces Kurken off the cage and back into rage.
Nappula fails to land with a series of punches.
Nappula misses with a straight right.

Nappula gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kurken to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kurken postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nappula avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Nappula is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kurken defends well.
Nappula manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Nappula is breathing heavily.
Kurken regains half guard.
Kurken flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Nappula is looking to take a break and control but Kurken is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kurken tries to roll over but Nappula keeps him under control.
It looks like Nappula is going to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Nappula is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Nappula seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Kurken is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nappula's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nappula's back!

Kurken is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Nappula with him. Nappula is trying to defend but Kurken has an arm under the chin now! Nappula grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Simon Kurken!
