The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander throws a body punch but SubMan moves out of range.
Alexander shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
An inside leg kick lands from Alexander.

and Alexander counters with a nice low kick that buckles SubMan's knee momentarily.
Alexander connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

SubMan tries for a takedown but Alexander circles away easily
enabling Alexander to counter with a crisp jab.

Alexander will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alexander throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Alexander tries to keep at a distance but SubMan has taken the fight into the clinch.

SubMan is looking to control Alexander's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can SubMan avoid being mounted?
Alexander has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, SubMan works to full guard.
SubMan has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

SubMan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Alexander is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked SubMan off and has taken his back!

Alexander is trying to stick to SubMan's back but SubMan is turning into Alexander. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Alexander's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by SubMan.

Alexander manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
SubMan tries to hold on but Alexander pushes him away.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

SubMan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

SubMan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Alexander to his feet.

Alexander tries to bum rush SubMan with a series of wild strikes but SubMan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
SubMan takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

and SubMan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Alexander's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alexander is not content to let SubMan control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alexander is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute SubMan jumps into side control!
Alexander pushes SubMan away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, SubMan gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Alexander gets back to half guard.
Alexander is trying to get back to full guard.
SubMan wants to control but Alexander is keeping him busy.
Alexander tries to roll over but SubMan keeps him under control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

SubMan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - SubMan lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Alexander manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The referee warns SubMan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jab, jab by Alexander - just one landing.
Alexander cracks a nice hook into SubMan's ribs.
SubMan moves in looking to clinch but Alexander pushes him off.
Alexander tests SubMan's chin there with a solid looking shot.

SubMan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
SubMan trying to pass the guard but Alexander defending well.
Alexander gets full guard.
Test SubMan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Alexander lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for SubMan!

SubMan on the wrong end of a nice jab.

SubMan shoots in and bounces Alexander off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
SubMan wants to pass the guard but Alexander is keeping the position.
Alexander wants to sweep here but SubMan controlling him for the moment.

Alexander uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Alexander gets caught flat footed, as SubMan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
SubMan pushes down on Alexander's leg and manages to get into half guard.

SubMan decides to stand and escape the position.

SubMan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

SubMan forces Alexander back against the cage and clinches.
Alexander jumps guard but SubMan stands there with Alexander around his waist. Alexander gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
SubMan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Alexander is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
SubMan is pressed up against the cage. Alexander has hold of a leg and is looking to drag SubMan down to the mat. SubMan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
SubMan looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

SubMan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Alexander!

SubMan has isolated one of Alexander's arms. Alexander looking to fight him off but SubMan twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
