Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brando Weiss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Olavi Korkeaoja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brando Weiss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Olavi Korkeaoja!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Korkeaoja lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Korkeaoja closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Korkeaoja lands in his opponent's guard.
Korkeaoja trying to control but Weiss is working from the bottom.
Weiss has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Weiss wants to get up but he can't break Korkeaoja's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Korkeaoja seems a little lost for a moment, as Weiss dominates the positioning.

Weiss decides to stand up, so the ref orders Korkeaoja to his feet.

Weiss is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Korkeaoja is striking but Weiss is not phased and passes to half guard.
Weiss keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Korkeaoja can do anything to dispel that myth.

Weiss is keen to just control but Korkeaoja is a slippery customer.
Weiss is taking a breather. Korkeaoja says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Korkeaoja is trying to control but can't.
Korkeaoja is concentrating on defense, preventing Weiss from advancing position.
Weiss wants to control but Korkeaoja is keeping him busy.
Korkeaoja is trying to stand back up but Weiss is controlling him

Weiss seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

A close round but Olavi Korkeaoja will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Weiss is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Korkeaoja.
Korkeaoja throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Weiss's waist but Weiss gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Korkeaoja off to one side.
Korkeaoja wants to clinch up but Weiss keeps it at a distance.

Korkeaoja goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Weiss has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Korkeaoja but great work by Weiss.

Weiss tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Brando Weiss just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Korkeaoja drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Weiss gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Weiss drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Korkeaoja gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Olavi Korkeaoja showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Weiss drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Weiss jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

I've got Korkeaoja winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
