Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Jefferies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rock Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses the shot to the body.
Jefferies looks to score with a jab to the body but Johnson is just out of range.
Johnson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jefferies.

Johnson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Jefferies is looking to reverse the position.
Johnson is working Jefferies over with some ground and pound from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jefferies is looking to regain half guard here but Johnson keeps moving and retains side control.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Johnson in particular looking to stall.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jefferies doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Johnson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jefferies's guard now.
Johnson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jefferies controls Johnson momentarily but Johnson frees himself.

Jefferies is looking for a triangle but Johnson pushes his legs off easily.

Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jefferies will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

I looks like Johnson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Jefferies tries to work over Johnson's front leg with a kick but Johnson checks it.
Johnson throws a jab when Jefferies was well out of range.

and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown. Jefferies fights it but they end up in guard.
Johnson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Jefferies has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Rock Johnson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Johnson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Rock Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Jefferies's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Johnson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
