Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ze Pequeno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pequeno shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Benjy pinned against the cage. Benjy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Benjy leaves Pequeno with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pequeno gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Benjy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pequeno gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Benjy counters with a shoot takedown. Pequeno fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ze Pequeno. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pequeno is breathing heavily.
Pequeno working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Benjy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Benjy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Benjy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Benjy wants to finish this one by submission but Pequeno is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Benjy.
Pequeno is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Benjy has taken his back.

Pequeno is looking to work some ground and pound but Benjy has wrist control.
Pequeno drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Benjy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pequeno has Benjy in his guard.

Benjy has hold of Pequeno's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Pequeno manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Benjy is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Pequeno is surviving well by controlling Benjy's body position as best he can.
Pequeno tries to reverse the position but Benjy maintains control.

Pequeno is trying to escape the mount but Benjy keeps good control and instead manages to take Pequeno's back.

Benjy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Putra Benjy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Pequeno has his foot on Benjy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Benjy works his way back into a safe position though.

Pequeno escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Benjy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Let's hope that Benjy has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Despite being in the dominant position, Putra Benjy just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

so Benjy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Well Benjy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
