PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tank Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Do It. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson scores with a takedown into Storm's guard.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Storm keeps moving.
Johnson won't allow Storm to get back to his feet.
Storm really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Storm is retaining full guard.
Johnson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Storm throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Storm looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Storm lands a two punch combo.

Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Storm's waist but Storm gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.
Johnson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Storm sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnson somewhat.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Storm but Storm pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tank Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Storm feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Johnson's calf.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. Storm tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Storm manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Storm lands with a kick to the temple. Johnson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Johnson avoids the head kick by Storm.

Johnson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Storm's guard.

Johnson wants to control from the top but Storm keeps moving.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Storm is keeping the position.
Storm throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tank Johnson will probably get the nod.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
