PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nintendo Takada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walter Never Faulter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Never Faulter comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Fire it up by Modest Mouse kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nintendo Takada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walter Never Faulter!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takada throws a hook but Never Faulter blocks it.
Takada swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Takada counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Nintendo Takada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Takada or perhaps it was just good defense by Never Faulter which made him look bad.
Takada is looking to chop away at Never Faulter's legs.
Nice sprawl there from Never Faulter as Takada shoots in.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Takada fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Never Faulter on the side of the head.
Takada throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Never Faulter sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Takada misses with a jab, cross combination.
Takada lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Takada on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Never Faulter tries to bum rush Takada with a series of wild strikes but Takada uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Takada lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Never Faulter throws a right and a left that Takada avoids nicely.
Takada misses with a hook to the body

and Never Faulter counters with a takedown into side control.
Takada can't do much from the bottom here.
Never Faulter wants to control but Takada is keeping him busy.
Never Faulter creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Takada sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Never Faulter looks to land a right hand but Takada moved out of range.

Takada throws a hook to the side of Never Faulter's head but Never Faulter sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Takada scores with a sloppy right hand. Never Faulter should have avoided that one.
Takada looks to land a combination but Never Faulter avoids it well.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Never Faulter is looking to work some ground and pound but Takada has wrist control.
Never Faulter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nintendo Takada will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Walter Never Faulter has got the better of the ground game so far.
Never Faulter throws and elbow that misses. Takada uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Never Faulter's guard. Nice move by Takada!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Never Faulter moves out of range of the strikes.
Never Faulter walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Takada closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Takada wants to control but Never Faulter is keeping him busy.

Takada is trying to get an arm triangle but Never Faulter is defending well.
Takada throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Never Faulter works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Never Faulter tries to roll over but Takada keeps him under control.
Takada is just content to waste time from the top position. Never Faulter takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Takada loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Never Faulter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Never Faulter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Takada is one step ahead there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Takada throws a hook but Never Faulter avoids it easily.
Never Faulter falls off balance throwing a combination
and Takada cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A telegraphed right hand from Takada misses the target.
Takada tries a head kick but it misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nintendo Takada showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Takada has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
