The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from McDougle as Nelson shoots in.
Nelson has a takedown stuffed.
Nelson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nelson shoots in but McDougle avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Slinky McDougle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Nelson.
Nelson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. McDougle is trying to defend but Nelson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Nelson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McDougle is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McDougle is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
McDougle gets back to half guard.
McDougle is trying to control but can't.
Nelson uses his free foot to push down on McDougle's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McDougle.
Nelson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but McDougle manages to avoid the submission attempt.
McDougle tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nelson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Nelson is looking to take a break and control but McDougle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McDougle tries to buck Nelson off but Nelson is having none of it.
McDougle sneaks back into half guard.
Nelson tries to pass the half guard into mount. McDougle knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
McDougle wants to get back to full guard.
Nelson seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead McDougle has recovered full guard.
McDougle is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nelson defends well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

McDougle is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
McDougle seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McDougle connects with a nice short shot to Nelson's temple.

That was a close round but I would say that Slinky McDougle will probably get the nod.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nelson tries to score a power double leg takedown but McDougle sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nelson somewhat.
Nelson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McDougle's waist but McDougle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nelson off to one side.

McDougle is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nelson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Nelson is trying desperately to improve position.

McDougle postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nelson looks a forlorn figure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nelson shoots and misses
enabling McDougle to counter with a crisp jab.
Nelson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nelson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Well McDougle has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
