Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between even Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, even Bell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Richards!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Richards lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bell has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bell and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Bell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Richards circles away quickly and effectively.
Richards tries for a takedown but Bell sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Richards throws a head kick but Bell moves out of range.
Bell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Richards counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Richards.
Bell is looking to stand up but Richards isn't so interested in that idea.
Bell trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Richards trying to control but Bell is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Richards keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bell's head.

Bell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Richards doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Richards manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bell is breathing heavily.
Richards throwing strikes but missing.
Richards would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Bell pulls Richards in close to prevent any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Richards passes Bell's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Richards is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Richards throwing shots but Bell is blocking nicely.
Bell is pressing down on Richards's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Richards postures up in Bell's guard and throws a big left but Bell blocks it.
Richards throws and elbow that misses. Bell uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Richards's guard. Nice move by Bell!
Richards throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Richards has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Bell gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bell shoots and misses

and Richards counters with a takedown into side control.
Bell is looking for a sweep.
Richards is working Bell over with some ground and pound from side control.
Richards tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Bell manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Bell tries to roll over but Richards keeps him under control.
Bell preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Richards seems to be working for a kimura but Bell defends the submission attempt.

Richards throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Bell misses with a takedown

and Richards counters with a shoot takedown. Bell fights it but they end up in guard.

Richards postures up in Bell's guard and throws a big left but Bell blocks it.
Bell wants to get back to his feet but Richards is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bell has momentary wrist control but Richards slips an elbow through the middle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bell is on top in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bell controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Richards throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Bell looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Bell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Bell won't allow Richards to get back to his feet.
Bell trying to control but Richards is working from the bottom.
Richards throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Bell wants to control from the top but Richards keeps moving.

Richards is working an open guard so Bell takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Bell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Scott Richards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bell lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bell.

Richards moves into range and clinches up with Bell.
Richards is looking to break free of the clinch but Bell has double underhooks.
Richards tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bell smiles and moves away.
Richards defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bell.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Richards gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bell counters with a nice low kick that buckles Richards's knee momentarily.
Bell steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Richards.

Bell closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bell lands in his opponent's guard.
Richards preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Scott Richards has got the better of the ground game so far.

Richards is looking for a triangle but Bell pushes his legs off easily.

Bell throwing strikes but missing.

Richards throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bell uses it to pass to side control.
Richards is trying to improve his position.
Bell working the ground and pound from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that even Bell will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Bell throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Richards.

Bell avoids the body shot from Richards.

and Bell counters with a body kick.

and Richards counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Bell is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Bell tries to clinch there but Richards circles away.

Bell lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Richards is trying desperately to improve position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Richards is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Bell sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Bell is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Richards is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bell cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Richards is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Bell controlling from mount.
Bell landing strikes, looking to finish!

Bell jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Richards is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Richards and Bell has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Richards is trying to buck Bell off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Richards can't do much from the bottom here.
Richards taking punishment in the form of punches.
Bell scores with a couple of short elbows.
Richards is not content to let Bell control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Richards is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bell asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bell trying to control the position but Richards is working away.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bell throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Richards.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Richards.
Bell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

And that's the end of the fight!
even Bell showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bell has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
