Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Blaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elijah Nichols (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nichols has chosen I'm So Hood as his entrance music. Al Blaze has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Al Blaze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elijah Nichols!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blaze shoots in looking for a takedown. Nichols tries to sprawl out of it but Blaze keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nichols manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Al Blaze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blaze fails with a takedown attempt.
Nichols misses with a wild body shot.
Blaze closes the distance and clinches up with Nichols, looking for a takedown. Blaze pushes Nichols against the cage but Nichols circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Al Blaze. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nichols throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Nichols misses with the combination.

Nichols shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Nichols tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Nichols blocks the strikes from Blaze.
Blaze is staying active underneath Nichols, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Nichols is looking for a kimura but Blaze is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nichols to get the leverage.
Blaze moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nichols would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Nichols postures up.
Nichols trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Blaze fails with the takedown
and Nichols counters with a good, hard body kick but Blaze shrugs it off.
Blaze shoots and misses

and Nichols counters by clinching up.

Nichols breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Blaze shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Nichols counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Blaze is pressing down on Nichols's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Blaze pushes a forearm under Nichols's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Nichols is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Al Blaze!
