The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richter shoots for a takedown but Steele saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Richter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Steele's waist but Steele gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Richter off to one side.
Steele moves into range and connects with a jab.
Richter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Steele but Steele pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Richter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Steele uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Richter.

Richter gets cracked there but stands up to it.
James Steele seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Steele tries to land knees in the clinch but Richter avoids the damage to the body.
