Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brian McDown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frito Lei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brian McDown has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian McDown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frito Lei!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lei tries a head kick but it misses.
Lei looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
McDown shoots in for a takedown but Lei shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

McDown closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McDown lands in his opponent's guard.
Lei working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from McDown.
Lei can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McDown controls the pace.
McDown slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McDown takes a little break here. Lei wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lei on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lei can do anything to dispel that myth.

McDown is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

McDown has hold of Lei's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Lei tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - McDown cranks the arm and Lei screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Lei, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
