PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Akuma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). comes to the cage accompanied by Journey - Separate Ways. George Pulver told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Akuma !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, George Pulver!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulver stuffs the takedown.
Pulver is looking to clinch.
fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Pulver shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pulver can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pulver has his foot on 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. works his way back into a safe position though.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pulver is on top in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pulver accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pulver postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pulver, into his guard.
will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

and Pulver counters with a nice double leg into side control. won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akuma . That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pulver scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at to see if he's OK.

takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Pulver cracks with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Pulver lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
is desperately trying to improve his position but Pulver has a good base and remains in mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
tries to hold on but Pulver postures up.
is in a horrible position here. Pulver smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Pulver goes for an armbar but he's not got it… turns into him and now he's in Pulver's guard.

George Pulver comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pulver has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
