Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jethro Rayner!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Felix Pomfrey!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rayner throws a leg kick but Pomfrey sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Jethro Rayner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rayner shoots in but Pomfrey avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rayner pivots, looking for a leg kick but Pomfrey is out of range and Rayner settles back down.
Pomfrey closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Rayner throws a right and a left that Pomfrey avoids nicely.
Rayner fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Pomfrey checks it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pomfrey misses with a double jab
and Rayner counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pomfrey's knee momentarily.
Pomfrey's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Pomfrey duly obliges.

Rayner misses with a body shot.
Rayner displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pomfrey throws out the jab.

Pomfrey leaves Rayner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rayner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jethro Rayner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pomfrey tries to bum rush Rayner with a series of wild strikes but Rayner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pomfrey dodges the punch combination from Rayner.
Rayner swings for the body but Pomfrey moves out of range.
Pomfrey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rayner.
Rayner is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pomfrey sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Pomfrey throws a looping overhand right but Rayner ducks down to avoid it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rayner stalks Pomfrey and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Pomfrey's face. Pomfrey staggers backwards, shaken.
Rayner swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pomfrey counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Rayner with a poor takedown
and Pomfrey cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Rayner shoots in and bounces Pomfrey off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Rayner stops Pomfrey from standing up.
Rayner throwing strikes from guard but Pomfrey blocks nicely.
Rayner trying to control but Pomfrey is working from the bottom.
Pomfrey is looking to stand up but Rayner isn't so interested in that idea.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rayner throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pomfrey works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Pomfrey is looking to stand up but Rayner isn't so interested in that idea.
Rayner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pomfrey swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rayner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rayner pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rayner fails with the takedown
and Pomfrey counters with a nice uppercut.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rayner shoots and misses
and Pomfrey counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Felix Pomfrey will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Pomfrey throws a right hand that Rayner ducks under and follows up with a left that Rayner also avoids with ease.
Rayner misses with a jab, cross combination.

Rayner shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pomfrey napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Rayner tries to move to mount but Pomfrey blocks the move with his legs.
The strikes coming from Rayner are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Rayner tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Rayner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rayner is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pomfrey is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rayner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pomfrey is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rayner has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Rayner tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Rayner has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Pomfrey is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Rayner yanks on the arm and Pomfrey is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Rayner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jethro Rayner!
