Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sandro Rtuwi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Hug (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sandro Rtuwi could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Andy Hug's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sandro Rtuwi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andy Hug!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Rtuwi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rtuwi looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Hug shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hug punishing his opponent with strikes.
Hug controlling from mount.
Hug raining down shots from the mount!
Hug lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Hug scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Rtuwi?
Hug sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hug has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hug is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Hug throws a push kick but Rtuwi slaps the foot to one side.
Rtuwi stuffs the takedown attempt from Hug. Hug gets slowly back to his feet.

The referee warns Rtuwi that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hug tries to control but Rtuwi wriggling away.

Hug connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Hug stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Hug connects with a high kick.
Hug closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rtuwi circles away.
Hug tries for a takedown but Rtuwi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sandro Rtuwi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Hug.

Hug darts in and clinches Rtuwi up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rtuwi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hug pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rtuwi circles away from the clinch attempt.

Hug shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rtuwi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Rtuwi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hug on the ground.
Rtuwi stops Hug from passing to mount.

Hug decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rtuwi to his feet.
Hug misses with a few strikes there.
Rtuwi misses with a takedown

so Hug counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Hug forces his way into half guard.
Rtuwi is looking to improve his position.
Hug frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hug lands a heavy elbow.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hug shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Rtuwi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hug has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rtuwi is working away from the top position though.
Hug regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hug is adopting a defensive guard.
Rtuwi trying to control the position from guard on top but Hug is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hug is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hug stands up and beckons Rtuwi to join him on the feet.
Rtuwi throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Hug shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Rtuwi counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rtuwi.
Hug is trying to break the clinch but Rtuwi has him pressed against the cage.
Hug drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rtuwi gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rtuwi keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hug's efforts to push away.
Rtuwi changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hug fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Rtuwi circles away from the clinch attempt.

Hug lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Hug decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Rtuwi. No joy for Hug on that attempt.

Hug fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rtuwi tries to land knees in the clinch but Hug avoids the damage to the body.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Rtuwi for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Rtuwi can't get the takedown.

Hug pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hug clinches but Rtuwi breaks the clinch

and Rtuwi counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hug!
Hug is working to get back to half guard.
Hug wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Rtuwi.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Rtuwi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hug pinned against the cage. Hug gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hug tries to close the distance and clinch but Rtuwi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hug looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hug misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hug fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sandro Rtuwi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Hug.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rtuwi darts in and clinches Hug up against the cage.

Hug is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rtuwi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Hug jumps guard and drags Rtuwi to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Hug wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hug should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Hug has his foot on Rtuwi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rtuwi works his way back into a safe position though.
Andy Hug has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hug kicks Rtuwi off and gets to his feet.
Rtuwi shoots and misses

and Hug counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rtuwi won't be happy with that.
Hug wants to control but Rtuwi is keeping him busy.
Hug advances nicely into full mount.

Hug can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rtuwi is looking to escape.
Hug lands a nice shot to the head.
Rtuwi is working to get back to half guard.
Hug trying to control but Rtuwi is having none of it.
Hug prevents Rtuwi from getting the reversal.

Rtuwi is trying to reverse the position but instead Hug has taken his back - oops!
Rtuwi just trying to survive but Hug is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Hug keeps control of the position as Rtuwi tries to break free.
Rtuwi is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hug tries to keep control of the position but Rtuwi is staying busy.
Hug is landing with strikes from the back.
Will Hug go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Rtuwi is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
