Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, SERGIO SILVA!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Pozzi!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pozzi rushes SILVA and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Pozzi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pozzi manages to end up in side control.
SILVA is trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
SILVA is looking to reverse the position.
SILVA is letting Pozzi control him for a moment.
SILVA tries to bench press Pozzi off him but Pozzi keeps the position.
SILVA is working hard here to advance position.
Pozzi controls the position.
SILVA is trying to improve his position.

SILVA is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Pozzi is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

It looks like SERGIO SILVA has been cut.
SILVA steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pozzi.

SILVA misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Pozzi scores with a jab. SILVA acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Pozzi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Let's hope that Pozzi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Pozzi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Pozzi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

SILVA working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pozzi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pozzi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

SILVA is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pozzi is aware though and is defending well.

Pozzi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. SILVA manages to get himself to full guard.

Pozzi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down SILVA's shoulder. That is not cool.

Pozzi is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Pozzi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but SILVA manages to avoid it.

SILVA had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pozzi is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. SILVA Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pozzi's back instead.

Pozzi tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

SILVA has gone for a leg lock! Pozzi slips out almost immediately though and dives into SILVA's guard.

SILVA throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Pozzi escapes and throws SILVA's legs to the side, diving into side control!
SILVA is letting Pozzi control him for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Pozzi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
