The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chance shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khatib but Khatib pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Chance looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chance is looking to advance position but Khatib won't allow it.

Chance wants to pass the guard but Khatib is defending well.

Chance is going olschool here, as he tries to force Khatib to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Khatib shrugs it off.

Chance has control of Khatib's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Khatib regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Khatib sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Chance shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Khatib as he avoids it easily.

Chance closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Khatib is looking to reverse the position.
Khatib can't do much from the bottom here.
Chance looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Khatib is avoiding damage well.
An elbow from Chance crashes against the mat.

Chance is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Khatib is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

so Khatib counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Last Chance overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Chance wants to clinch

and Khatib counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Chance's guard now.
Khatib keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Chance's head.

Chance has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Khatib can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Chance is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Khatib is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Khatib connects with a couple of short punches.
Khatib throwing strikes but missing.
Khatib wants to control from the top but Chance keeps moving.

Chance has his foot on Khatib's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Khatib works his way back into a safe position though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Khatib sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Chance's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khatib stalling away here and it's allowed Chance to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Khatib got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chance has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Khatib has managed to get both his arms back between Chance's legs - danger averted.

I would just about give that final round to Sou Khatib.
