PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mauri Ruoska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georges Dore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruoska comes to the cage accompanied by Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the devil. Mauri Ruoska is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mauri Ruoska!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Dore!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruoska tries to close the distance and clinch but Dore swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dore bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dore avoids a punch combination nicely.

Ruoska shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dore is trying to defend but Ruoska finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Dore is looking to control Ruoska's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dore avoid being mounted?

Ruoska is trying to work for a kimura but Dore is defending well.
Dore wants to get back to full guard.

Ruoska is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dore is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dore has escaped and now he's on top!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dore has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ruoska is proving hard to escape from.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Dore wanted to stand there but Ruoska had control of the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dore won't allow Ruoska to get back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Dore rushes Ruoska and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

A close round but Georges Dore will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Dore throws a nice looking combination but Ruoska bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ruoska keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


It looks like Georges Dore has been cut.
Ruoska tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dore paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Dore lands a left and a right that send Ruoska crashing to the mat, dazed. Dore thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Mauri Ruoska has been cut.
Ruoska showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Dore.
Oh Ruoska is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dore chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ruoska can pounce on him.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Ruoska cracks Dore with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dore uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ruoska.
Ruoska seems to have got his legs back now.
Ruoska throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Ruoska counters with a single leg into guard. Dore didn't expect that.

Dore is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ruoska's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ruoska's back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dore moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Dore throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ruoska was covering up waiting for the punch and Dore finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dore wants to control from the top but Ruoska keeps moving.
Dore is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mauri Ruoska will probably get the nod.

Ruoska drops his hands momentarily and Dore takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Ruoska fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dore sprawls well initially but Ruoska persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Dore makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Ruoska wants to clinch up but Dore keeps it at a distance.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ruoska. Dore shrugs it off though.
Georges Dore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dore takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ruoska ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Ruoska tries to clinch there but Dore circles away.
Dore swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ruoska counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Dore tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ruoska misses with a body kick.
Mauri Ruoska is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dore misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dore missing with a left hand there. Ruoska was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Ruoska closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ruoska lands in his opponent's guard.

Ruoska is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dore sees it coming and defends easily.

Ruoska is looking for a kimura but Dore is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ruoska to get the leverage.

Dore is staying active underneath Ruoska, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dore rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ruoska moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ruoska gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Dore.
Dore is looking to break free of the clinch but Ruoska has double underhooks.
Ruoska tries to pull guard but Dore holds him up against the cage and eventually Ruoska drops back down to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ruoska gets control of Dore's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ruoska will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Dore is posturing up here but Ruoska has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Dore tries to roll out but it's too tight and Dore has to tap! Slick submission there by Ruoska!
