Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Doc Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, EF Hutton!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hutton on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Hutton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Patterson throws a series of punches but Hutton moves out of range.
Hutton takes a swing at Patterson's ribcage but misses.
Hutton connects with a solid leg kick.
EF Hutton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hutton wants to clinch.
Patterson misses with a two punch combination.

Patterson tries to keep at a distance but Hutton has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hutton misses with a hook from the clinch.
Hutton digs a right hand into Patterson's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Patterson's gas tank.

Patterson gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Hutton pushes Patterson off looking to stand but Patterson dives back in and keeps control.

Hutton kicks Patterson off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hutton closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hutton tries to stand and escape but Patterson is controlling the position.
Patterson works his way to full guard. Good work.

Patterson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Patterson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hutton is aware though and is defending well.
Hutton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Patterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hutton would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Patterson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hutton has passed into side control.
Hutton throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Patterson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hutton is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Patterson, into his guard.

Hutton throws and elbow that misses. Patterson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hutton's guard. Nice move by Patterson!

Patterson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Patterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Hutton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A close round but EF Hutton will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Patterson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Patterson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Patterson is stalling here. Hutton is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Patterson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hutton has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Patterson wants to sweep but no luck.
Hutton throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hutton missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hutton wanted to stand there but Patterson had control of the position.
Patterson wants to sweep here but Hutton controlling him for the moment.

Patterson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hutton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Patterson is on top in guard.
Patterson stops Hutton from standing up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Patterson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hutton is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Patterson is really struggling to control Hutton but he's trying to hold on to the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hutton is looking to stand up but Patterson isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Patterson tries for a takedown but Hutton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Patterson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Doc Patterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Patterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hutton keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Patterson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Hutton shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Patterson pinned against the cage. Patterson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Patterson looks to land a combination but Hutton avoids it well.
Doc Patterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hutton swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hutton avoids the body shot from Patterson.
A chopping leg kick lands by Patterson.
Hutton swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hutton shoots in but Patterson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
No joy there for Patterson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Patterson counters with a straight right hand.
Doc Patterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of EF Hutton.
Hutton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Patterson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Patterson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A lazy left from Patterson finds it's target.
Hutton misses with a two punch combination.

Patterson throws a sloppy head kick and Hutton moves out of range easily.
Patterson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hutton drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Hutton shoots and misses
and Patterson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Patterson closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Hutton takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Patterson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Patterson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Patterson misses with a series of wild punches.
An inside leg kick lands from Patterson.
Patterson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Patterson.

Patterson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Patterson is keen to just control but Hutton is a slippery customer.

Patterson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Patterson passes the guard and advances to mount!
Patterson controlling the pace for now.
You get the feeling that Hutton really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Patterson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Hutton in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Hutton defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Patterson.

Hutton wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Patterson.

Patterson wants to finish this one by submission but Hutton is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Patterson.

Patterson has hold of Hutton's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hutton manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

And that's the end of the fight!
Doc Patterson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Patterson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
