PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dexan Donk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshmallow Bunny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Dexan Donk has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dexan Donk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marshmallow Bunny!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk lands a lovely overhand right.


It looks like Marshmallow Bunny has been cut.
Bunny tries to clinch but Donk is having none of it.
Donk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Donk misses with a double jab.

Bunny decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Donk actively working from the bottom here.
Bunny is stalling here. Donk is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Bunny seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Donk has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Donk tries for a kimura but Bunny is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Donk wants to stand but Bunny is controlling his arm.

Bunny sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Bunny flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Bunny is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Donk stands up out of the half guard.

Bunny closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bunny has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Bunny throwing strikes but Donk bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Donk avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Donk is on top in guard.

Donk got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bunny has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Donk has managed to get both his arms back between Bunny's legs - danger averted.
Bunny is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Donk is pushing down on Bunny's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bunny is fighting to maintain full guard but Donk has managed to sneak the leg through.
Donk has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Donk looking to control but Bunny is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Donk is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bunny has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Bunny is looking to get to half guard.
Bunny is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Donk working for a submission but Bunny is keeping him at bay.

The fighters are battling for position here. Bunny manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Donk is working for a submission of some sort.
Bunny has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Donk is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bunny tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Donk is looking to advance position but Bunny won't allow it.
Bunny slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Donk throws a lazy right hand but Bunny sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Donk misses with a head kick.
Donk throws a low kick, looking for Bunny's leg but Bunny calmly moves out of range.

Bunny closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Donk did well to prevent Bunny getting side control.

Bunny tries to pass the half guard into mount. Donk knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bunny missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Bunny looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Donk with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Donk wants to get back to full guard.
Donk is pressing down on Bunny's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Bunny trying to control but Donk is working from the bottom.

Donk is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bunny must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bunny lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Donk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Bunny might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Donk kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Marshmallow Bunny has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bunny won't allow Donk to sweep him here.
Bunny postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Donk looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Bunny trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Donk keeping moving, preventing Bunny from controlling successfully.

Bunny is looking to advance position but Donk won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bunny is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Marshmallow Bunny showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Bunny misses with a takedown attempt - Donk sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Donk connects with a crisp jab.
Dexan Donk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Donk keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Bunny avoids the head kick by Donk.

Bunny closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Donk to the mat! Donk manages to get full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Donk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bunny's guard.

Donk drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bunny looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bunny looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bunny!

Donk is looking for a sweep.
Donk manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Bunny uses his free foot to push down on Donk's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Donk.
Donk wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bunny.
Bunny thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bunny is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Bunny can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Donk is looking to escape.
Bunny lands a big shot there that rocks Donk but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Bunny wants to control the pace but Donk is squirming around nicely.
Donk tries to hold on but Bunny postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Donk can't escape the position.
Bunny looking to control but Donk is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Bunny swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Donk is now in Bunny's guard. A big mistake from Bunny there, giving up the dominant position!
Donk wants to pass the guard but Bunny is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Donk frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Donk goes for an armbar but Bunny turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Bunny.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bunny stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Donk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Donk throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bunny escapes and throws Donk's legs to the side, diving into side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
Dexan Donk showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Donk has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
