PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chili Con Carne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Wigger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hans Wigger will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Con Carne looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Wigger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Con Carne doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Con Carne manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wigger tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Wigger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Con Carne gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Con Carne wants to control from the top but Wigger keeps moving.

Con Carne drops back looking for a leg! Wigger is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wigger manages to kick Con Carne off! Con Carne jumps back into Wigger's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wigger looking for subs off his back but Con Carne has passed one foot through into half guard.

Con Carne is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wigger defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Wigger is looking for a sweep. Con Carne is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Wigger gets caught flat footed, as Con Carne shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Con Carne is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Wigger had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Con Carne is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Wigger Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Con Carne's back instead.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wigger doesn't have the hooks in and Con Carne manages to turn into his guard.

Con Carne drops back looking for a leg! Wigger is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wigger manages to kick Con Carne off! Con Carne jumps back into Wigger's guard.

Con Carne thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Con Carne avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wigger wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Con Carne is now in half guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Con Carne ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Wigger lands the left hand.

Wigger scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Wigger tries to score with some ground and pound. Con Carne controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Con Carne manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Wigger takes Con Carne's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Con Carne is in trouble.
Wigger is trying to stick to Con Carne's back but Con Carne is turning into Wigger. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Wigger's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Con Carne.

Con Carne postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wigger is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Con Carne, into his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Con Carne utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Wigger throws a strike but Con Carne rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Con Carne drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Con Carne jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Con Carne got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wigger has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Con Carne has managed to get both his arms back between Wigger's legs - danger averted.

Hans Wigger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Wigger fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Con Carne manages to avoid it.

Con Carne shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Con Carne showed some decent athleticism there.

Con Carne wants to take a breather but Wigger is having none of it.

Wigger tries to hold on but Con Carne pushes him away.
Wigger can't escape the position.
Poor strikes thrown by Con Carne there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Wigger reaches up and pulls Con Carne towards him, trying to control the position. Con Carne manages to get a guillotine from the mount though! This could be big trouble for Wigger! Wigger tries to roll over - now Con Carne is on the bottom but the guillotine is really deep and Wigger has to tap out! Great work there by Con Carne!
