PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tito Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ortiz has chosen break as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tito Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tyson fails to land with a series of punches.

Ortiz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Tyson is not content to let Ortiz control the position.

Ortiz decides to stand up, so the ref orders Tyson to his feet.

Ortiz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tyson is trying to defend but Ortiz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Tyson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ortiz is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Ortiz takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ortiz trying to control the action but Tyson is working from the bottom.
Ortiz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Ortiz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Ortiz slips a nice elbow through Tyson's hands, connecting with Tyson's forehead.
Ortiz winds up and cracks Tyson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ortiz is pressing down on Tyson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tyson is holding on for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ortiz stands up from half guard.
A combination from Tyson does no damage.
Tyson tries to bum rush Ortiz with a series of wild strikes but Ortiz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ortiz shoots for a double leg takedown but Tyson sprawls well. He's pushed Ortiz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tyson is breathing heavily.
Tyson tries to clinch up.
Tyson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ortiz's waist but Ortiz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tyson off to one side.
Ortiz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tyson tries a low kick but Ortiz avoids it.

Ortiz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tyson sprawls well initially but Ortiz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ortiz postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Tyson to stand up.

Ortiz closes the distance and pushes Tyson back into the cage.

Ortiz pulls Tyson into guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ortiz holds on and takes a little breather.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ortiz looking for a sweep. Not yet Ortiz, not yet.
Tyson wants to control from the top but Ortiz keeps moving.
Ortiz manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ortiz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ortiz thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Ortiz controlling the position easily from mount.
Ortiz pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Tyson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ortiz on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ortiz looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
A nice elbow there by Ortiz.
Ortiz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tyson is looking to escape.
Ortiz lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tyson wants to hold on but Ortiz pushes him away.
Tyson in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tito Ortiz dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Ortiz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Tyson wants to get back to his feet.

Ortiz decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Ortiz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tyson avoids it really well and circles away.
Tyson stalks Ortiz and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ortiz's face. Ortiz staggers backwards, shaken.
Tyson stuffs the takedown.

Ortiz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ortiz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tyson wants to control but Ortiz is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ortiz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tyson is looking to escape.
Ortiz has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Tyson's face.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ortiz trying to control but Tyson is having none of it.

Ortiz is landing with some decent strikes but Tyson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Ortiz cracks Tyson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Tyson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tito Ortiz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


A nice combination there by Ortiz.
Tyson looks to clinch

and Ortiz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Ortiz can't get the takedown.
Tyson wants to break the clinch but can't.

Ortiz gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ortiz has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Ortiz punching from mount but Tyson doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Tyson is working to get back to half guard.

Ortiz is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tyson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ortiz unloads with some shots from mount but Tyson bucks and avoids them well.
Ortiz looking to finish Tyson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Tyson!
Ortiz looking to control but Tyson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Tyson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee warns Tyson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ortiz avoids the attempt from Tyson to control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ortiz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Tyson wants to try and get back to his feet.
Ortiz breaks from Tyson's wrist control and lands an elbow.
