With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brett Richards!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Andrews looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Richards!
Richards is in all sorts of trouble here.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Richards is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Andrews looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Andrews wants to take Richards's back but he can't do it this time.
Richards bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Richards trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Richards passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Richards tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Andrews regains half guard.

Richards goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Andrews turns into him and now he's in Richards's guard.
Andrews tries to free his leg and advance position but Richards is retaining full guard.
Richards tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Andrews passes into half guard.

Andrews looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Richards is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Andrews is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Andrews passes Richards's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Andrews works his foot free and advances to mount.
Richards is trying desperately to improve position.
Andrews wants to take Richards's back but he can't do it this time.

Andrews looking to break Richards's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Richards remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Andrews will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Andrews has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Richards can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Richards thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Andrews is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Richards defends well.

Richards tries to pass the half guard into mount. Andrews knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Andrews moves into full guard.
Allen Andrews overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Andrews is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Andrews is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Richards defends it well.

Richards is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Andrews pulls his head out easily.

Andrews seems to be working for a kimura but Richards defends the submission attempt.

Andrews is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Richards is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
