Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Sylvia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Captain Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tim Sylvia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Captain Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sylvia shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gracie defends it nicely.
Sylvia wants to clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Gracie. No joy for Sylvia on that attempt.
Sylvia throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.

Gracie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sylvia to the mat! Sylvia manages to get full guard.
Gracie is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gracie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sylvia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gracie's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Gracie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sylvia thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Gracie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sylvia wants to get back to his feet but Gracie is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Despite being in the dominant position, Captain Gracie just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gracie bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sylvia is trying to buck Gracie off.
Gracie is staying tight to Sylvia's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sylvia is looking for a sweep.
A lull in the action here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sylvia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Captain Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Sylvia tries to clinch but Gracie is having none of it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gracie.
Gracie slows the pace down.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sylvia keeps working.

Gracie seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
