Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aoki Shinya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Romero Calvacanti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aoki Shinya could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Romero Calvacanti's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Romero Calvacanti!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Calvacanti has Shinya up against the ropes in a clinch.
Calvacanti stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Calvacanti lands a nice knee to the body.
Calvacanti is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Shinya is defending well for now.

and Calvacanti counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shinya's guard now.

Shinya has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Calvacanti is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Shinya.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Calvacanti closes the distance and pushes Shinya back into the ropes.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shinya is trying to reverse the position but instead Calvacanti has taken his back - oops!

Shinya turns into Calvacanti and is now in his guard.

Shinya thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Calvacanti manages to escape and get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shinya is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Calvacanti just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Romero Calvacanti showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Calvacanti dives in and grabs Shinya's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shinya pushes down on Calvacanti's head and hops out.
