And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vladimir Tarasenko!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tarasenko steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mikkelsson.
Mikkelsson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tarasenko.
The crowd cheers as Mikkelsson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Tarasenko doesn't seem phased though.


It looks like Vladimir Tarasenko has been cut.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tarasenko jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mikkelsson manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Tarasenko closes the distance and clinches up with Mikkelsson, looking for a takedown. Tarasenko pushes Mikkelsson against the ropes but Mikkelsson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Maikkel Mikkelsson will probably get the nod.

Tarasenko is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mikkelsson.

Tarasenko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mikkelsson circles away.
Mikkelsson is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
