The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LaPue swats away the attempt to clinch by Richards.

Richards jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as LaPue walks away with a smile on his face. Richards gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Richards takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

LaPue lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
LaPue tries to clinch but Richards is having none of it.
Richards shoots in looking for a takedown. LaPue tries to sprawl out of it but Richards keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. LaPue manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
