The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nunes clinches up against the cage.
Nunes tries to land a knee to the head but Lupus blocks with his arms.

Lupus breaks from the clinch.
Nunes lands a head kick. Lupus smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Lupus has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nunes is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Nunes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lupus shoots in looking for a takedown. Nunes tries to sprawl out of it but Lupus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nunes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Lupus throws a sloppy head kick and Nunes moves out of range easily.

Nunes shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nunes was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lupus swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Lupus gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lupus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lupus tries to lock up and control but Nunes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nunes is fighting off a takedown attempt but Lupus is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nunes to the mat. Nunes regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nunes is on top in guard.
