Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Petey Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Diaz or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown. Diaz fights it but they end up in guard.

Johnson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Diaz's head.

Johnson distracts Diaz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Johnson is in close to Diaz's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Diaz is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea.
Johnson lands a couple of elbows.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.

Diaz can't keep his opponent in guard - Johnson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Johnson lands with a punch from half guard.
Diaz is trying to stand.
Diaz is staying active underneath Johnson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Diaz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Diaz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back!

Diaz lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Johnson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Diaz lands a big shot there that rocks Johnson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Johnson is rocked!
Johnson is looking to get to half guard.
Johnson is still in real trouble! Can Diaz finish him?
Johnson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Diaz throwing shots but Johnson is blocking nicely.
Johnson seems to have recovered his senses.
Diaz trying to pass the guard but Johnson defending well.

Diaz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Johnson's head.
Johnson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Diaz's guard.
Diaz wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment.
Johnson stands and throws Diaz's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnson looks up at the clock and then as Diaz takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Johnson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Johnson creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson scores with punches from side control.
Diaz manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Diaz connects with a nice short shot to Johnson's temple.
Diaz scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Johnson has hold of Diaz's hands but Diaz slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Petey Johnson dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Diaz lands a hook that stumbles Johnson back into the cage. Diaz follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Johnson to the canvas! Diaz pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Johnson has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Jake Diaz!
