The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tortle is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kwadwo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Kwadwo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tortle is just riding it out for now. Kwadwo eventually gives up the hold.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kwadwo connects with a nice short shot to Tortle's temple.
Kwadwo slips a nice elbow through Tortle's hands, connecting with Tortle's forehead.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kwadwo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tortle with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Tortle tries to get to full guard but Kwadwo has control of the leg.
Kwadwo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kwadwo takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Kwadwo is keen to just control but Tortle is a slippery customer.

Tortle has a hand on Kwadwo's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kwadwo takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Kwadwo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Tortle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kwadwo on the ground.
