PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Barcello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kobe Bryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kobe Bryan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barcello fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bryan sprawls well initially but Barcello persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Barcello is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bryan sees it coming and defends easily.

Barcello is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bryan gets full guard.

Barcello drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bryan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Barcello has Bryan in his guard.

Barcello throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bryan escapes and throws Barcello's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Bryan cracks Barcello with a big elbow.
Bryan is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Barcello will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Barcello tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Bryan slows the pace down.
Bryan in side control lands a decent elbow.
Barcello is looking to regain half guard here but Bryan keeps moving and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bryan controlling the position from side mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barcello takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Bryan tries for a kimura but Barcello is defending well.

Bryan has hold of Barcello's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Barcello tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Bryan cranks the arm and Barcello screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Barcello, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
