The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Silva working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Silva really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Silva takes a little break here. Faber wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Faber is looking to regain half guard here but Silva keeps moving and retains side control.

Faber's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Faber is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Faber uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Faber ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Silva throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Silva has managed to clinch.

Silva has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Faber clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Faber breaks Silva's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Faber is looking to stand up but Silva won't let him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.

and Silva counters by clinching up.

Silva gets to his feet - Faber follows without any prompting.
Faber looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Faber counters with a big head kick but Silva shrugs it off.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Faber wants to control but Silva is having none of it.

Silva goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Faber is on top in guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Faber makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Silva kicks Faber off and gets to his feet.
Silva wants to clinch up but Faber keeps it at a distance.

Silva decides to stand back up. Silva steps back and let's Faber get back to his feet.
