Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Max Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raul Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max Powers had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Max Powers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raul Cabrera!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powers swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Powers swats away the attempt to clinch by Cabrera.
Powers blocks a head kick by Cabrera.
Powers takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Powers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Raul Cabrera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Powers closes the distance and clinches.

Powers escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Powers throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cabrera clinches but Powers breaks the clinch
and Powers counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cabrera's knee momentarily.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Powers!
Powers avoids the head kick by Cabrera.
Cabrera wants to clinch but Powers slips to the side
and Powers counters with a nice leg kick.
A right-left combo lands from Powers.
Cabrera takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Powers shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cabrera napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Powers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cabrera keeps working.

Powers tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Powers has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cabrera is trying to buck Powers off.
Cabrera manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Cabrera is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Powers scores with a couple of nice shots.

Powers is working for a kimura but Cabrera is defending it quite comfortably.
Powers missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Powers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cabrera on the ground.
Powers seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Powers working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Cabrera looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Cabrera wants to control but Powers is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Powers trying to control the action but Cabrera is working from the bottom.
Powers is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Cabrera actively working from the bottom here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Cabrera wants to land a leg kick but Powers is out of range.
Cabrera looks to clinch

and Powers counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Powers postures up and lands a big shot to Cabrera's brow.
Powers stands up over Cabrera, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Powers got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cabrera has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Powers has managed to get both his arms back between Cabrera's legs - danger averted.

Cabrera has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Powers doesn't defend quickly enough and Cabrera has managed to lock this one up! Can Powers escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Cabrera on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Raul Cabrera!
