Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Van Dam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne Carey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Dam comes into the arena with C R E A M By The Wu-Tang Clan blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Dam tries to bum rush Carey with a series of wild strikes but Carey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Van Dam will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Van Dam throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carey slips under a jab.
No joy there for Van Dam, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Van Dam throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Carey.
Carey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Van Dam as he avoids it easily.

Carey with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Carey landing strikes from the mount and Van Dam is in trouble!
Carey has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Carey fails to move to back control.
Van Dam is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Van Dam has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Carey is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Carey gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Carey gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Carey apologises and we restart here on the feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

It looks like Wayne Carey has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Van Dam in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Carey looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Van Dam turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
