PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ravish McTavish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerome Le Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ravish McTavish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jerome Le Banner!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McTavish throws a nice looking combination but Le Banner bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Le Banner will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A punch combination from McTavish misses.
Le Banner tries to score a power double leg takedown but McTavish sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Le Banner somewhat.
Le Banner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McTavish tries to avoid it but Le Banner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McTavish to the ground. McTavish escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Le Banner misses with a double jab

and McTavish counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Le Banner's guard now.
McTavish trying to control the position from guard on top but Le Banner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McTavish pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Le Banner is keeping the position for now.
Le Banner is trying to keep McTavish in close.
McTavish works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Le Banner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McTavish is working away from the top position though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
McTavish trying to mount his opponent but Le Banner defends it.
Le Banner on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Le Banner has his hands clasped together around McTavish's back. He's all about the action.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McTavish in particular looking to stall.
Le Banner keeps control of the position for the meantime.

McTavish is trying to work for a kimura but Le Banner is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McTavish in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Le Banner is looking for a sweep. McTavish is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Le Banner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Le Banner.
McTavish is looking to work some ground and pound but Le Banner has wrist control.
McTavish not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Le Banner is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McTavish postures up in Le Banner's guard and throws a big left but Le Banner blocks it.

McTavish sitting in guard here, content to control.
McTavish tries to free his leg and advance position but Le Banner is retaining full guard.

Le Banner looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McTavish stands up over Le Banner, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
McTavish wants to control from the top but Le Banner keeps moving.
McTavish seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
McTavish scoring with some ground and pound.
McTavish trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McTavish looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

McTavish tries to stand but Le Banner is controlling from the bottom.
McTavish wants to control from the top but Le Banner keeps moving.
McTavish seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Le Banner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ravish McTavish dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

McTavish scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Ravish McTavish has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerome Le Banner.

McTavish rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Le Banner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jerome Le Banner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and McTavish counters with a one-two to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Le Banner walks into a left hand.
McTavish tests Le Banner's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Le Banner has his takedown stuffed
enabling McTavish to counter with a crisp jab.
McTavish sizes up Le Banner with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Le Banner shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McTavish counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Le Banner is still on wobbly legs! Can McTavish finish him?
Le Banner loses concentration momentarily and McTavish pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Le Banner crashes face first to the mat, out cold! McTavish finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
